Ok, so I just saw the announcement today that after 14 years, Gerry Thomasen is leaving Real Estate Webmasters in pursuit of establishing a career as a REALTOR. (If you are interested in living in Nanaimo BC, I recommend you see him. Great guy. Here’s his website. ) I am not sure how long I have known Gerry (I have known Morgan and the people at RealEstateWebmasters.com since 2005…so I guess it is about that long for Gerry or a little bit less.) but I DO know when he impressed me one day with a single blog post.
It was the day he swam home from work to his place on Protection Island. He posted this originally on his blog at RealEstateWebmasters. It was July 11, 2007. I read it and re-read it. At the time he was doing a lot of content creation (read: writing) at REW. His love for Nanaimo, it’s history, and his passion for where he lived was something that he and I talked about each time I visited. We would always grab at least a few minutes to say hi.
I work with a lot of amazing REALTORS and many of them are customers at REW. I know for a fact that I am not alone when I say that Gerry is a class act and one of our favorite people to work with. No matter how stressful my day might be, conversations with Gerry were something I looked forward to.
Now my friend, you are leaving home (REW) and Protection Island (aptly named). Swimming away from them this time. But swimming in open water is a good thing. And like you said. It is something that everyone should experience.
Good luck in your next chapter of life. God speed in this next endeavour.
And know that you have a lot of friends in the REW community that wish you well.
